The Kalpitiya fishery harbour is a natural harbour situated in the North east of Sri Lanka in the Puttalam district along a stretch of lagoon. Although the Kalpitiya fishery harbour has the capacity to service five hundred vessels simultaneously, provisions have been made for expansion in anticipation of development.
Kalpitiya was declared a ‘tourist zone’ by a government gazette and is rapidly becoming a tourist destination because of the large Dolphin and Whale populations located off its coast.
