The Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation (CFHC) was established in 1972 and is primary responsible for delivering fishery-harbour related services and providing the fishing community with the required infrastructure and facilities.

Currently harbour management system is in practice and 24 fishery harbours are operational in the coast line of Sri Lanka.

The services and facilities

  • Provision of Safe Berthing Facilities (Maintenance of required harbour depths, navigational channels and navigational equipment’s).
  • Maintenance and development of all Fishery harbours.
  • Ice, water, fuel and lubricants supply.
  • Boat repair and boat building services.
  • Landing facilities.
  • Facilitation of legal bodies (Department of Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management & Department of Fisheries).
  • Fish unloading, Net Mending and Auction facilities.
  • Provision for Sales outlets for Industry Related Supportive Service.
  • Harbour Lighting Parking and 24 hrs. Security Services.
  • Harbour dredging facilitation for fishing boats.
  • Facilitation by Sayura and Ruhunuputha vessels for foreign dredging projects.

  • Setting up sales outlets for supportive services pertaining fishing activities
  • Rental of lands and buildings for the enhancement of the fisheries industry
